Born on 5th of May 1937,  explored his excellence as a multilingual personality. Attained in-depth knowledge in “Devabhasha” Sanskrit, in Mothertongue Malayalam and in National language Hindi.

Spectacular contributions bestowed with several awards. In 1998 endowed with Panamballi Govindamenon Memorial Award and later in 2007, was recognised as one among the best South Indian Hindi propagator, awarded by the then Chief Justice of Supreme Court.

Parents & Early Life

Father, Nagamahashayan, one of the well known medical terminator of South India, has got brilliance in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Sanskrit. He was the Palace Physician in Thiruvithamkoor Palace. Mother, Rudrani celebrated her excellence in Malayalam and Sanskrit. She had panoramic knowledge in Puranas as well.

Completed primary education in Punalur Narasimhavilasam High school, further in SN College and persuaded graduation from Mysore University College, Karnataka. Soon after getting graduated in 1961, started the career as a teacher in Hindi Vidhyalaya, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. Explored special fascination in propagating Hindi by travelling throughout India and took part in Dakshina Bharath Hindi Prachara Sabha. Doctorate in Hindi glorified excellence in Hindi Literature.

The Freedom Movement

Years from 1925 to 1930 of Gandhiji’s period, out of the 18 establishing programs, propagation of Hindi in villages where it’s prominence lacked was an important movement. Following the path, reached out for this purpose in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka during the years 1962 65. Accompaniment of some colleagues helped for the function. Some remote places where transport facility lacked were also given concern. Took special efforts to reach those areas.

Worked as an educationist in Pathanapuram, Kollam, Kayamkulam, Pathanamthitta, Parakode, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kodungallur, and Nileshwar from the year 1961 to 1997.

Spiritual path

As a motivator and propagator of spirituality engages with the soul of godliness especially in South India. And till date, every Sunday serving as an instructor of spirituality in Kannur Sundareshwara Temple became a part of life. Addressed almost 10000 venues. Took part in Cherukkolppuzha Hindu Conference in 1987. Lectures delivered in Guruvayur Temple, Kozhikode Srikandeshwara Temple, Kottayam Thirunakara Temple were notable ones. Several periodic publications were also chosen as a path of spreading the knowledge of spirituality.

Got quite a good composition of followers from all over Kerala and started to be known as Dr Punalur Prabhakaran Swami among them.

Under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, Dakshina Bharath Hindi Prachara Sabha was established in 1918. The headquarters is located in state of Madras. And Devadas Gandhi was the director. In Kerala, the office is situated at Ernakulam. As a part of the association, travel to Madras was very often. Hindi School at Nileshwar, established in 1955, was a platform as a teacher, and served there from1978 to 1989.

After the progression of Hindi B.Ed College, went back to Madras with the same goal. Shared a great role in preparing materials for studies and always worked with a heart full of respect to the national language. Meanwhile by 1983, settled in Cheruvathur.

In 1997, bequeathed from the Dakshina Bharath Hindi Prachara Sabha and continues in the teaching field. Contributed part in several organisations like Chinmaya Mission, Gandhi Peace Foundation, Sreeramakrishna Mission etc.
